(Adapted from an email to the Poplus mailing list)
I’ve just added a useful new feature to the Cuttlefish component.
You can now see very simply what email clients people are using to read your emails. This is really helpful in understanding whether people are reading your mails when they’re out and about using their mobile or whether they’re reading them while sitting at a desk. Also, it’s massively helpful when designing html emails – so you can know which email clients it’s important that the email looks awesome on.
Here’s what the new feature looks like:
This is a screenshot of the stats for all the OpenAustralia Foundation emails that go out via Cuttlefish (dominated by those from PlanningAlerts.org.au). Right off the bat it told us something unexpected – we didn’t realise that most people were reading our emails on their iphones.
It’s the beginning of this feature and it’s really bare bones right now.
Would you find this useful? What else would you like?
If you would like to use the hosted Cuttlefish service you can for free if you’re part of the Poplus community or plan to use it for a civic tech application.
